The evolution of home furnishing

Where else should the world's only IKEA Museum be, if not here in Älmhult? Experience the story of the creation and worldwide propagation of BILLY and KLIPPAN and all the other classics. Learn more about design and home furnishing, the challenges and opportunities of people through more than 75 years of history.

Shopping in Älmhult

The IKEA store in Älmhult has the world's largest selection of IKEA products. The bargain store is right next door, and the surrounding neighbourhood is being developed into a commercial area with ample shopping opportunities. A free shuttle bus to the area will pick you up right outside the hotel!

Glass and design district

Believe it or not, but IKEA is not the only furniture manufacturer in Småland. There is a long and rich tradition of furniture and glass production here. A tradition that continues to evolve with exciting local design, art and craft. Take a tour of Glasriket ("Glass kingdom") with some of Sweden's foremost glass blowers, or visit Vandalorum, the arts and crafts museum.

The outdoors are right around the corner

Hiking, cycling, canoeing, swimming, fishing... Here in Älmhult, nature is easily accessible for activities all year round. And what better way to end a day of adventure than to relax by the fire in the hotel's Lyktan lounge.

Råshult – the landscape of Linnaeus

Learn more about Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) and the environment that moulded him into one of the leading scientists of his age. His birthplace Råshult, located just outside Älmhult, is now a cultural reserve where you can experience early 18th-century rural Småland.

How about flying like a bird over the wide woods of Småland? Almost, anyway. Little Rock Lake offers tours by zipline, sliding along a cable at high speeds in a harness. An activity for your next conference maybe, or a dream present for mom.

Fairytale adventures for children of all ages

Take a tour of Vimmerby and meet all the beloved characters from Astrid Lindgren's stories: Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Ronja the robber's daughter... Astrid Lindgren's world is an eagerly awaited destination for many families. It's also a convenient day trip from Älmhult and IKEA Hotell.

Small town charm around the corner

IKEA Hotell is located right in the middle of Älmhult with walking distance to the railway station as well as the small-scale town centre. Here you will find cozy cafés, restaurants and a good range of services. Please ask at our reception if there is anything in particular you are looking for.
